IBulgur pilavi is one of Turkish traditional dish, it is really easy to make. You can find bulgur in Turkish markets, Asda's and Tesco's international sections or in natural food shops. It is bigger than cous cous.
This is the brand I always prefer to but in Europe, very taste one.
Ingredients:
2 onions
1 green pepper
1/2 tomatoes
Salt
Olive oil
Butter
Chicken or meat juice or bullion.
Black pepper
Red hot pepper
Recipe:
Chop onions as shown:
Cut green peppers in small pieces
Cook till onions turn to pink color in olive oil and add sea salt as much as you like
Now it's time to add:
Half chopped tomatoes and biber salcasi (pepper paste)
This is what I like to get from Market, there are different brands you can get but this is what I like as taste.
Now time to cook all those ingredients together at least 5 mins. Don't forget stirring it regularly.
1 glass of bulgur is ready to wash.
This is how our mixture before adding washed bulgur.
Add bulgur and hot chilly, cut it in small pieces
Add bulgur and mix it nicely and cook a bit while you are stirring and add your meat/chicken juice. If you are vegetarian you can only use tap water for cooking.
Just over the bulgur not much not less, one finger height :)
Close the lid and cook it with high heat till its boiled than bring temperature down and cook half an hour.
Mix it after cook and close the lid and wait 10-15 mins before you it, if you like you can add some butter at this stage it will be really tasty.
On the plate with pickles these are also homemade and this recipe is also on my blog.
You can add some black pepper hot chilly and mint. It is also very good with natural yoghurt.
Bulgur Pilavi always served with kebabs in restaurants.
Afiyet olsun
